The big difference between building your own tiny house (DIY) and being on Tiny House Nation is getting the keys to your house much faster!
Yes, that’s right folks! I am officially a tiny house owner with keys in hand. Let me tell you more about the process.
First, the opening was prepared with the sticky stuff to keep water out. Super important since water damage around doorways is really common. At this point, I don’t think you can use too much of this stuff.
Second, I purchased a door 2nd hand which saved me about 50% of the cost. The door as-is was fine but generic. So I decided to add some personality and a little lux with paint.
Looking good right?! It’s all good until you see bleed through!

After using the tips I learned in the video’s you can see the difference. Using a rag to press the painter tape and then a razor blade to get it just right made all the difference. Then it was just a matter of painting several coats.
The final step adding a bit of lux with metallic paint. How fun!
I now have something special that nobody else has. A little elbow grease, patience, and daring to be different and wa-la!
As a creative person I spend most of my time trying to think of ways to color outside of the lines. But in this case, I’m glad I learned how to color inside the lines like an expert!
